How to smudge mindfully and safely

Place your incense on a heat-resistant surface, for example, a shell or incense burner with some sand. Ignite it, let it burn briefly until smoke rises, and allow it to drift through the room. Open a window while doing so and never leave burning incense unattended.

How often should I smudge my home?

That is entirely up to you. Many people smudge after an argument or intense conversations, after guests have visited or moving house, monthly at the full or new moon – or simply intuitively when a room feels heavy or unclear.

How do I cleanse my crystals with sage?

Light the sage and let it burn briefly until smoke is produced. Carefully hold or place your crystals in the rising smoke so that it envelops the stones. As you do this, visualize old energies disappearing and the vibration of your stone becoming fresh again.

What is Palo Santo?

Palo Santo translates to "holy wood" and originates from South America. Its fragrant resin forms only in dead wood, which is why traditionally, only wood from naturally fallen trees is used.

Do I need prior knowledge to smudge?

No. The most important thing is your intention. State out loud or silently what you wish to release and what you want to invite into the space, for example: "I release stress and welcome clarity."
